1. When people use the phrase “The Happiest Place on Earth” in reference to Walt Disney World

  2. waltdisneyconfessions:

"It worries me how racist the Disney fandom is. Seriously, someone brings up the fact that Frozen has no POC and the racist people come out of the woodworks. It’s also upsetting that a lot of people don’t want more POC in the line up"

This is the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard.  Frozen has all white people because it takes place in an are where pretty much everyone is white.  Ethnicities of Disney characters don’t matter, how well they’re written is what matters.

  3. Kill Refurb Marry: Disney Film Songs

This is my first contribution to the Kill Refurb Marry Blog Hop series started by Mouse on the Mind.  The idea is that they pick a topic, and you have to say what in the topic you would get rid of (kill), which you would modify (refurb), and which you love as it is (marry).  If you read the title, you know that the topic is songs from Disney films.

Kill: I would kill “Zero to Hero" from Hercules.  The whole soundtrack for that movie is awful (except Meg’s song, which is okay), but Zero to Hero is the worst.  Sure, the actresses playing the muses have some serious singing chops, but the song itself is awful.  The weird hybrid of 1990’s style pop with gospel music doesn’t fit the setting of ancient Greece at all.  The "humor moments" aren’t funny, the pop culture stuff is cringe-worthy, and the song is just badly written, both lyrically and musically.

Refurb: I would refurb “Down in New Orleans" from Princess and the Frog.  I really do like the song.  The animation that accompanies it in the film is perfect exposition for the characters, the accompaniment on it is good, the melody is nice to listen to, it fits thematically with the film, and the lyrics are well-written.  What I don’t like about this song is the singer.  He sound bored, almost like he’s phoning it in.  He has a decent voice, but if he would have done another take with some more emotion and a sense for what he’s singing about, it wouldn’t be my pick for this category.

Marry: I would marry “Baby Mine" from Dumbo.  I love the song so much because it fits the scene it’s in perfectly, the orchestrations are great, and the singer performing it (Betty Noyes) gets the emotions down perfectly.  It’s not hurt by the fact that it accompanies the only scene in any movie that has reduced me to tears.

That’s my Kill Refurb Marry, and I look forward to the next one.

Will this about cover it? This should cover it just fine, Lottie!

I just love Lottie’s adorable little jump here!!!

I love how Tiana was never too proud to accept help from friends, and the movie didn’t show this as making her any less hard working or devoted. I think that’s an important lesson.

Similarly, Lottie was always giving and loving, even though she was by all counts supposedly a spoiled brat. This is truly one of my favorite Disney friendships.

It’s one of my favorite friendships in film, period.

This may be a little silly given the epic life she lived, but this will be how I’ll always remember Shirley Temple.

    What is that from?

If you think about it Ursula was actually really nice because she only promised Ariel legs, and she gave her really nice legs that matched her body type and skin color when she could have just as easily given her goat legs

I have an idea.. Since I’m going to be in WDW this weekend, I figured we could have a little fun. REBLOG THIS IF YOU ARE A DISNEY BLOG (any type of Disney blog not just Walt Disney World) AND I WILL PUT YOUR URL ON A PIECE OF PAPER AND SPREAD IT ALL OVER THE PARKS.

It’s official, I am going to Disneyland in November.  I’m staying at the Tropicana Inn & Suites on Harbour Blvd and will be in the parks for four days.  I am flying in on Monday November 17th, and leaving on November 22nd.  Expect lots of pictures and reviews when I come back.

If you don’t have a playlist like this that you listen to daily and fall asleep to them I’m judging you

I have playlists like that for each park, complete with ride audio and area music from various sources with an order to help them flow so that it’s like a walk around the park.  They’re all many hours long.

a place to stay with 24/7 direct access to denny’s

When I go to Disneyland in November, I’m staying at a hotel that’s near Denny’s.  However, iHop is closer, so I’ll probably eat there. ;)
